- December to April, which is both the good weather and the Theyyam season.
- How long to stay
- Two nights, three if you are following the shrines.
- Getting there
- Kannur has its own international airport.

01
Theyyam
A village ritual, not a performance. A man in costume and firelight becomes a deity for the night, speaks as one, and is consulted as one, in the shrines of north Malabar through the cool months. Going with somebody who knows the family is a different thing from watching.

02
Muzhappilangad
About four kilometres of hard sand that you are allowed to drive along.
03
Kannur fort
Built by the Portuguese, then held by the Dutch and the British, in the usual order.
04
Thalassery
The old coastal town south of Kannur, known for its biryani.
