The stone chariot and temples at Hampi

14 days

The dynasties of Karnataka

Hoysala, Vijayanagara, Chalukya and the Deccan sultans, in fourteen days.

All journeys

Karnataka has a remarkable run of historic architecture, and far fewer crowds than the north.

This journey works northwards through the dynasties that built it: the finely carved Hoysala temples at Belur and Halebid, the ruins of Vijayanagara at Hampi, the early Chalukya temples at Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal, then Bijapur, Bidar and Hyderabad for what the Deccan sultanates built afterwards.
